
The Challenge
A client’s location suffered a disastrous flood that damaged both the physical workspace as well as countless operating devices, including computers and networking equipment. The office had to be closed for weeks to allow restoration services to be completed.
The Solution
CSOLVE’s cloud network for this client included two components: strong networking infrastructure supporting hybrid work powered by Cisco solutions, and a migration of organizational data away from on-premises servers to cloud storage via Sharepoint Online and management via Microsoft Azure.
The Cisco solutions in place included Cisco Meraki and Cisco AnyConnect. Meraki allows for management and monitoring of networking hardware, including wireless access points, switches, security appliances, and Internet-of-Things (IoT) connected devices. Thanks to the capabilities of Meraki’s network monitoring, CSOLVE was alerted to the on-site damage caused by the flood and could identify which devices on the network were impacted. Once physical restoration of the space had been completed, replacement equipment could be integrated into the network quickly and validated to ensure connectivity was restored once users returned to the office.
Following the office restoration, the Cisco Meraki network was expanded to leverage its smart device functionality for environmental monitoring devices. These included cameras, temperature sensors, and flood detection sensors. These devices were fully integrated into the Meraki portal, ensuring that potential issues in the future would alert immediately to minimize damage.
In the meantime, users needed to connect remotely to work from home. This was accomplished through Cisco AnyConnect. Cisco AnyConnect is a security endpoint solution that enables remote access to an organization’s network. AnyConnect works on multiple platforms and includes features such as endpoint compliance and automatic updates to ensure protection from cyber threats. This was paramount in allowing users to access company resources such as email and files while working from home. Thanks to this solution, what could have been potentially weeks or months of downtime was drastically cut down as users were able to connect from other secured devices remotely. The cloud migration completed by CSOLVE proved to be invaluable to the organization.
The Outcome
Thanks in part to the strong cloud network that CSOLVE built, along with our disaster recovery tools, we were able to get the client up and running supporting a hybrid environment in just a matter of days. Estimates suggested that if the network had not been previously migrated, the location would have been inoperable for weeks/months, greatly disrupting the client’s ability to function.
